The story of Imogen
We are beyond excited to introduce our new friend Imogen, a food designer based in London. Imogen uses culinary practice as a means of communication. We had a chat with Imogen about food, Lingerie, and sustainability.
S/R: Tell us about yourself and your work
Imogen: I am a food designer who uses culinary practice as a means of communication— my work encourages comprehension through consumption. This could take form as an interactive dinner, edible installation, or recipe creation such as this project, where I find ways to interpret a brand's concept and aesthetic through ingredients and cooking techniques. I am currently based in London, raised in NYC (where I attended culinary school and worked in restaurants), and born in Sydney.
S/R: How did the Semi/romantic pieces you chose inspire the recipes?
Imogen: I loved the delicate nature of the lace fabric (supplied by Iluna) used in the Bea set. The fluttering, crispy edges of the crepe represents this material and its texture. Roasting grapes with lemon zest is a unique way to treat a common fruit, resulting in exciting bursts of caramelized flavor, in the same way, that Semi/Romantic uses known materials to create unique garments.
A balance of fragrant spices and soothing tea to calm both the body and mind in the morning or before bed. The Esme set, with the front clasp bra and form-fitting design, is sexy and comforting to wear. To represent this feeling are the milk and rose petals that exude femininity and softness, while the various dried spices add depth of flavor and luxury.
Crepes with Yoghurt + Roasted Grapes
The fluttering, crispy edges of the crepe depicts the delicacy of the lace fabric supplied by Iluna. Roasting grapes with lemon zest is a unique way to treat a common fruit, resulting in an exciting bursts of caramelised flavour, in the same way that Semi/Romantic transforms known materials.
Spice + Rose infused Milk Tea
A balance of fragrant spices and soothing tea to calm both the body and mind in the morning or before bed. To represent the way Semi/Romantic’s garments makes women feel while wearing them, the milk and rose exude femininity and softness, while the various dried spices add depth of flavour and luxury.
